Geiger study shows savings of $4.56 per order and improved follow up from implementing the ePSA Order Status standard.
Bob Blaisdell, CFO of distributor Geiger, sent this note on the industry's first major study defining savings from implementing e•PSA PIPs.

"Geiger is implementing a new ABC Costing System within our firm. As part of that process, we studied the cost benefits for orders with where we are receiving order status and shipping information electronically. Our system allows us to extract time cost information at both the person and order level. From all indicators our extracted data is very accurate.

We looked at data on 18,500 orders produced during a certain period of time. Our Maine-based staff 'expedited' 10,800, or 58%, of those orders. Any phone calls made by our sales persons or field staff to follow up suppliers were not counted in this information. Further, we are sure we did not have the available staff time to follow up on each order as we want to do.

From this order sampling, we learned our actual cost savings was $4.56 per order expedited."
